‘Come gather round people wherever you are,’ said the song and dance man. Clearly he knew the plan.
I wrote a book, ‘Insights from the Engine Room,’ had a whole heap of fun doing it and now the time has come to spread the word. So when those awfully nice people at Tin Can came knocking and presented me with the opportunity to contribute and add my random thoughts, grumblings and mumblings it was a marriage made in heaven. Dulcet Tones was born, the phoenix had finally risen!
So now here I am let loose with my own page, some may remember me of old but I don’t so where we go with this will depend on where we begin and as I haven’t yet begun, I have no idea. Some things never change.
They’ll be contributions from friends and colleagues of old, and from people I haven’t yet met. There will be some looking from afar at a music business once so wonderful and now so horrid…what the hell happened? They’ll be insights from insiders, thoughts and observations, memories and moments. If I like it I have to hope you will, and I think you will. See I like you already.
As we wander aimlessly into Dulcet Tones territory we’ll tiptoe on excerpts from the book, starting now. We’ll sample some snippets, a little taster. If it was grub you’d be nibbling and going back for the full meal. Eat me I’m yours.
So what is this, what is ‘Insights from the Engine Room?’ I explained it in the intro to the book so for fear of repeating myself (ha, why change the habit of a lifetime…) today’s excerpt does that, it says what says it is. It explains it. It introduces me to you so you get to know who I am and why I’m doing this. And over the weeks they’ll be more, the scene will be set.
And then it’s down to you, introduce yourself, don’t be shy. We’re all in this together. Tin Can is a wonderful concept, some great people with some great ideas. And it deserves a great audience. That’s where you come in, tell us your thoughts and share with us your ideas. In fact better still, tell us your dreams. Together it’ll be a gas!
