Leah Shapiro, drummer with one of the hardest working bands we know; Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, took time out to join us in the Tin Can Nuclear Bunker...

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are one of our stock bands here at Tin Can. We love 'em...on vinyl or live...we just love 'em. No, we particularly love them live. That's when we get to see just how they do it, and can see how the one-woman drumming dynamo Leah Shapiro produces the unyielding driving rhythms that provide a framework for the band's sound.
Finding opportunity for a full-time position with the band when they parted company with original drummer Nick Jago, the Danish-born stickstress has been cracking skins for BRMC since June 2008. Described by fellow band member Robert Been as 'playing like she's in a trance', she is lauded for the pounding stamina she displays which almost belies her size.
There's something very endearing about a girl with calloused palms, so we're pleased to announce that Leah has booked her place in our Nuclear Bunker and chosen her five discs to bring with her. We're getting the impression that she's had a serious think about just how life's going to be down there so she's chosen music to accompany her on a variety of possible scenarios. Though it sounds like she's already planning her escape...hmm, as if we're going to let her do that......
Leah Shapiro, welcome to the Tin Can Nuclear Bunker.
