One Gallagher returns with his first release since the split. Are we impressed?
Remarkable.
No - not the track.
What was remarkable was the fact that we had to wait for the release date. It was like going back in time to pre-internet days. No leaking on Youtube, no nothing. All that was missing was queues at record shops.
We wanted to love it but we're not sure. Something's not quite right is it? Or did we expect too much...
Ok, it's passable - but it's not the storming first release track surely expected.
What is more interesting is the B side - Sons of the Stage. An old Mancunian classic from The World of Twist that used to be played as Oasis came on stage in the early days, Beady Eye give us a rockier version without straying too far away from the original.
After releasing their first piece of music - which NME termed an 'event release, the likes of which we haven't seen in aeons' - the band (Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock) will be giving fans a first live taste of their premiere album in a series of concerts in Glasgow, Manchester & London in March next year, which is proving to be one of the most hotly anticipated live debuts the UK has ever seen.
We will watch what happens next with interest...
