Dermo’s Recession Sessions

Dermo's Recession Sessions 5 (featuring Vinny Peculiar)

From semen donation to suicide dads, the kind of songs that make you blush and weep at the same time

Vinny Peculiar : Vocals, Guitar, Lyrics & Piano

Vinny Peculiar [aka Alan Wilkes] is a Manchester singer-songwriter: he’s released six albums, three EPs, a book of poems, worked as an artist in residence with Bill Drummond [KLF, The 17] and his various bands have included ex members of The Smiths, The Fall and Oasis.

He writes kitchen sink confessional songs that celebrate the nuances of life and loss – from semen donation to suicide dads – the kind of songs that make you blush and weep at the same time. His songs have also been vicariously described as poignant confessional and vaguely disturbing. Lately he’s been writing for fun…but it wont last; it never does.

The three songs that influenced Vinny are:

1 - Denim - The Osmands

2 - David Bowie - The Jean Genie

3 - John Cooper Clarke - Valley Of The Long Lost Women

Vinny Peculiar - In Session

1 - Feel Like A King

2 - Actions Speak Louder

3 - Nurse Of The Year

4 - Ever Lasting Teenage Bedroom

Recorded and mixed By CRaig Sanderson and Tom Harris at SSR Creative Media Academy, Downing Street, Manchester
