On Tour: Paris with I Like Trains and Sisters of Mercy

Sometimes, going out in Leeds to see Leeds bands all the time can get a bit boring. No really. So, why not go see them in Paris instead? Makes perfect sense to me.

The Sisters of Mercy and I Like Trains were celebrating/commiserating the last night of their European tour together at the Bataclan in Paris. After a fun Eurostar trip, an initial hotel that was itself an advert for going through the Parisian Tourist Board, and a trek through the streets where we feared getting covered in romantic-sounding graffiti if we stood still for long enough, we got down to business.

As incredible as it seemed to go all the way to Paris for one night, just for a gig, it was far easier than I’d imagined it would be - the perfect combination of travel and entertainment. And this being our first experiment in capturing a band on tour in Foreign, I’d say it was a success, overall. We managed to remember to shoot, ask reasonably good questions, and not get in the way too much.

We weren’t exactly flies on the wall, but we weren’t flies in the soup either. More tours s'il vous plait.
