Hail to The Asteroid #4...

Hail To The Clear Figurines is simply stunning. But plans are already in place to surpass the 6th album...

Scott Vittorelli kindly took the time to give us his Nuclear Bunker choices but first we wanted to know what's on the horizon for the band - here's what we know & found out...

First up, there's the September tour of California - 7 dates in all. At a later date there will be some one-off east coast gigs whilst recording the follow up to Hail To The Clear Figurines is underway. Plans are being put in place to tour Europe again in 2012 - busy times ahead...

But in between work will start on an exciting collaboration between The Asteroid #4 & Peter Daltrey, singer/chief songwriter of 1960's UK band Kaleidoscope. LA studio time is booked, The Asteroid #4 are writing the music & Peter Daltrey will take care of the lyrics & be on vocal duties - this should be pretty special...

Before we go onto Scott's 5 choices, 2 tracks from Asteroid #4, plus a link to stream the album. If you haven't heard it, listen to it, fall in love with it, go buy this cosmic masterpiece...

Over to Scott...

"To think of 5 records that you'd want to have with you during armageddon isn't an easy task whatsoever. I mean, not only are you in a bunker wondering what the hell may be going on above, but you would also want to hold onto the things that made you happy to be alive prior to having to crawl down into this hole.

With that said, I picked 5 things that I believe would serve the best purpose and that would be to calm me down and remind me of the simpler times. Records that would remind me of the finer things like early mornings with a cup of coffee, walking through the woods, hanging with my love, etc.

There's been other similar exercises asked of people called "desert island discs", but if you're on some tropical island, you're probably alone and scared, but you're also still enjoying the ocean, sunshine, coconuts and shellfish. Not too bad of a way to listen to some tunes and all you would need are some Beach Boys records for eternity and life can be pretty good.

For a nuclear bunker?! Man, I don't know, but I will tell you that I hope and would expect someone else to bring the Beatles and Stones, because they would be needed to remind us that humans were capable of great things prior to pushing the proverbial button, but I decided to leave them off of my list. I'm sure I would regret it if this ever actually happened.

So without further adieu, here is what I'd bring down the hatch....

First, Lee Hazlewood's "Cowboy in Sweden". No other artist melded several genres so well. From country, to crooning, to orchestrated rock and folk, Lee was as psychedelic as Nashville, or for that matter, anywhere could get."

"Second...to really calm my nerves, Nick Drake's Bryter Layter. Nick Drake just makes the emotions roll and could make you cry with a smile. Listening to a song like "Fly" while in a nuclear bunker would simply make me believe that this to will all pass, even if only for a moment."

"Third...Verve's, before the "The" was added, "A Storm in Heaven". By far one of the best records ever made, and if you disagree, I hope you're clawing at the hatch door above for dear life while I'm chilling below listening to it."

"Fourth...Pink Floyd's Soundtrack to the movie "More". I know, I know, you're too good for Floyd after Syd. I get it, Syd was God, blah, blah, blah...and so was Brian Jones....but honestly, like the Stones, Pink Floyd went on to make some of the greatest complete records and "More" is no exception. It is essentially where all of the Krautrock bands got there ideas and every track does something different...hopefully I have a giant bag of grass in this bunker of ours. Wait...I do, right?"

(we answered by using the secret blinking code - Scott was happy to carry on with his choices...)

"and Fifth...

anything by Neil Young, because it will just remind me the most of growing up, being a kid, camping with my parents, sitting in the back seat of the car. Innocence. If I have to pick anything, I guess I'll go with "Decade", because its got it all including my personal favorite song of all time, "Expecting to Fly" by the Buffalo Springfield."

...that's it...I hope this never has to happen. Peace."

Scott, thanks for your time & adding some new music to our Nuclear Bunker CD rack. Good luck with all that's coming up & we've got our fingers crossed that we see The Asteroid #4 back in the UK sometime next year.

Mark Lager: PERFECT PICKS! A Storm in Heaven is my favorite album! "Expecting To Fly" is one of my all time favorite songs. And you can't go wrong with Nick Drake. Plus, Pink Floyd's '68-'72 Harvest era is underrated. My favorite Floyd track is the "Atom Heart
